BACKGROUND

Bastion is a construction company with a large client base across both the public and private sector. Its diverse portfolio includes projects within education facilities, retail, commercial, marine, hospitals, domestic spaces, and specialist restorations.

With over 30 years of experience, Renobuild Ireland are specialists in floor coating systems for commercial, retail, industrial, hospitality, and domestic spaces. Renobuild operate to the highest and latest EU and international standards, and continually monitor the technological and regulatory state of flooring requirements in every sector.

Renobuild’s trained operatives have a quality policy of zero defects, and ensure that projects are carried out to the highest standards with minimal disruption.

THE CHALLENGE

A loading area of a large warehouse in Ashbourne Business Park was discovered to be slippery when lorries backed in for unloading and loading. Our Renobuild specialists were called to consult on the best way to proceed to prevent accidents and increase the safety and functionality of the space. The original floor was also extremely well laid and power floated.

It was essential that the new chosen flooring solution was:

  • Non-slip.
  • Durable and long-lasting.
  • Low or no maintenance.
  • Able to withstand a constant flow of heavy vehicles.

In addition, it was imperative that there was minimal disruption to the warehouse’s operations.

THE SOLUTION

Our experts used an HTC 950 Floor Grinder fitted with HTC Ravager Texturing Heads was used to texture the concrete in the affected warehouse, increasing the grip of the flooring and removing slippage, and inputted line marking to create pedestrian walkways within the warehouse for further safety precautions. This was completed at a time when the warehouses were empty and not in use to avoid any disruption to operations.

A non-slip coating was advised against as it would have eventually worn away due to the high volume of heavy goods vehicles and forklift traffic in the space. The chosen method of texturing the concrete also required no maintenance – this way, we prioritised durability and functionality.

THE RESULT

Bastion were exceptionally happy with the high-quality finished floor, and the safety of the warehouses was greatly improved – both from the textured concrete floor and the new line marking clearly sectioning off pedestrian walkways and staging areas throughout the warehouses.

Our team completed the project on two warehouses to an excellent standard in a short amount of time, with no disruption to warehouse operations.
